Configura is headquartered in Linköping, Sweden, and has operations in USA, Malaysia, Germany, and Japan. In 2022, we set up our Tokyo office with the purpose of developing the local market and to better support our customers in Japan.

Configura is looking for a Senior Project Manager to drive customer success, lead strategic projects, and contribute to the growth of our operations in Japan.

About the Role

As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring an outstanding experience for new and existing customers using Configura’s products and services. You will oversee customer onboarding, retention, and expansion while leading and managing projects to ensure timely and high-quality delivery. Given our Japan office’s growth phase, you will also contribute to various aspects of the Japanese customer journey.


With overall responsibility for planning, execution, and stakeholder communication, you will manage projects ranging from software development to business analysis. You will mentor team members, foster collaboration, and drive innovation to ensure our customers maximize the value of Configura’s solutions.


For the right candidate, this role offers a pathway to evolve into Customer Success Manager (CSM) for Japan while maintaining project management responsibilities.

What you will be doing

    Project Leadership

    • Lead and manage projects in terms of time, budget, quality, and scope.
    • Ensure requirements and estimates are well-defined before entering the implementation phase.
    • Identify project stakeholders and establish effective communication paths.

    Customer Engagement & Success

    • Actively participate in the later stages of the sales process to align expectations and project scope.
    • Ensure compliance with customer agreements and drive high-quality service delivery.
    • Collaborate with Sales and Product Management teams to provide long-term value for customers.

    Process Improvement & Team Collaboration

    • Conduct retrospectives to drive continuous improvement.
    • Mentor and train project managers and team members.
    • Identify future business opportunities and communicate them to account and product management teams.


Job requirements

Who We’re Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of Japanese business culture and expectations around software service delivery.
  • Native-level/JLPT 1 Japanese and intermediate-level English communication skills.
  • Proven experience in delivering software development projects in Japan using waterfall, agile, or hybrid methodologies.
  • Successful track record of leading complex projects and managing distributed teams.
  • Experience handling tight deadlines, budgets, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Background in account management or a similar customer-facing role is an added advantage.
  • Experience with organizational development and process improvements.
  • A collaborative mindset, as we are a small team, and flexibility to assist with tasks beyond your primary role.
